The 690 Duke is the best all-round bike for me, but it took time to appreciate its handling. For a while I felt the bars were too wide and the handling is very "chuckable". On most sports bikes, I plan ahead, but sometimes on the Duke I change lines just for laughs. Mine has been totally reliable.

duke200. 639 posts · Joined 2016. #24 · Sep 30, 2016. racing engines that have a lot of heat load (such as the 390), lift up the oil temperature at 120+ Celsius (248F), espesially in long endurance or traffic. The extreme heat at the uper crankcase can cause (the least) gasket failure, and commonely rod cracking.
I am 67 going on 45. You really do not need to get old. My KTM 690 Duke is one of six great bikes I own and drive in the mountains of N.C. If anyone passes you in the turns it is your fault. The lean angle is off the chart. Lots of tourque down low and very strong out of the corners.
Another obstacle to fitting an oil cooler is that the 390 engine is not plumbed for it - there are no out/in spouts to and from a cooler. These would have to be improvised. As Luc pointed out, the 390's cooling system can effectively shed the necessary calories to keep it running smoothly and safely. A SPAL fan augments the effectiveness of the
